Pro Quest, Final Week
Another step in the 1.5-million-dollar journey to the end of the year has been taken as we move past Battle Hardened: Valencia and into the final week of Pro Quest Season 5: Amsterdam. Dash finds her way to the top of the Living Legends tracker, ousting Fai from that precarious spot; we do love to see it change in the spirit of good competition, but with every glut of points comes the awesome anticipation that our beloved heroes will ascend to Legend. There is still time, between the coming events of the weekend and the premier Calling: Japan right around the bend, and some storied hero or heroine may just yet tip over and give us some real tumult in the scales of balance for the parting of the mistveil. Do your part and put some Living Legend points on your name - and take home a gold foil while you're at it!
Kayo has been the winningest hero of the series, netting 24 wins thusfar; while Warriors in general have been pulling up left, right, and center with Kassai and Dorinthea taking half of the top 4 spots for the season. Victor and Azalea make up the other 2 heroes in the top 5, all of whom have taken their Pro Quest wins to the double digits. In all, nearly 90% of the heroes currently in the game have found victory at this Pro Quest, with only Arakni, Betsy, and Olympia waiting in the wings.
If you're keen on it, a killer Betsy list is due out this Friday from Yours Truly: I recommend that you sleeve it up and take it to the top tables as an unexpected meta call that can snowball in to victory for less than $150.
Or maybe you want something a little easier? On the other end of the spectrum, the $40 Kayo Armory Deck is due out on Friday: I bet you could do a few upgrades and sleeve up the Brute who has single-handedly taken the most raw wins this season.
And hey, if you are excited for the Armory Decks, check out this tweet that seems to indicate that we might be getting a reveal for the next hero to get the Armory Deck treatment due out in July. The image shows Lexi, but I have my doubts...
There's still time to make your mark on this season, so don't let up in the final week and go spill some blood on the sand. If you can't make it to your LGS for the last week of the season, don't forget about the Battle Hardened events coming up May 10-12: you can head to the second largest city of Taiwan: Taichung; or on the same days along the Vistula River in Warsaw, Poland.
In This Month, The Mistveil Parts
The run-up to the parting of the mistveil has been so exciting, with spoilers coming out at every major event in advance of the Japanese language debut set. This weekend, May 3rd-6th, players in Japan can get acquainted with Ira, Crimson Haze... and with that, the Flesh and Blood journey of an entire nation truly begins. I know I got my start with an Ira deck!
Next weekend, May 10th-12th, the Blitz decks are getting early debut - and you can bet that if there are any secrets hiding out in those decks, we'll talk about them here.
Speaking of spoilers, check out these tweets from the weekend in Valencia! Looks like Shadow is getting a real, actual factual boost in the form of these killer pieces of carboard.
Welcome to Japan
Don't forget: May 17th to the 19th is going to be the World Premiere of Part the Mistveil in Japan!
I remember when the first US Calling came to Las Vegas, bringing Tales of Aria in tow. Will this set mirror that one, where each hero has hit living legend ahead of their vanilla counterparts? Will someone crack the world's first Japanese Cold Foil Fable at the Calling and not in some mass-box-opening stream?!? Tune in and find out!
