An Interview with James White of Legend Story Studios

by Kirk Bushell 13th August 2021 0 : 17

In this interview, I get to catch up with James briefly and talk about the growing success behind Flesh and Blood, his flagship game title, the constant global challenges, as well as touch on some game design elements and answer some questions from the community.

FaB TV is a community project as part of the Cardtech network, and is designed, developed and supported by myself, Kirk Bushell.

Kirk Bushell

Kirk is the sole developer of both FaB DB and The Rathe Times, proving an obsession with the game of Flesh & Blood and supporting its communities. Additionally, he loves writing articles, the game, and the general hobby of collecting cards.

Very interesting conversation. Very excited for pro play/1m prize support for next year. Very hopeful of LSS in the future.

Behind every TCG is a very important foundation of math and statistics that make a fun game possible. But it's knowledge of marketing and sales that makes a game capable of living long enough to stick. Glad that it seems that FaB was founded with s0meone familiar with both aspects.

I have hope that they will will get better and the balancing act of the game as well as the availability. They just dont have the same resources available that all these major companies have yet. Despite that they are doing so good!

JW is the man. I'm bummed NZ is currently in Lockdown. I was hoping that he was going to be floating around at some of the RTN events

I really enjoyed this interview. Since I recently started, getting any insight into the company that makes the game is great.

The concept of James talking about considering classes/heroes as pillars.... he gave us that in depth design concept that i deeply appreciate. because of the none rotation philosophy, im able to look at the cards and what it designed to do, more accurately. They expanded on the generic slots as one, and i found myself more agreeing than questioning. This interview is so organic and insightful! Thank you!

Interesting questions, interesting answers. These guys have their head in the right place, and I'm encouraged to see that gamer-first mentality and awareness trickles down from the very top. I hope they will be able to maintain balance as this card pool continues to grow, but I like FAB's chances!

@FORKINSOCKET - Unfortunately, balance becomes harder and harder to maintain as the card pool grows, but I think LSS and James White have done an astounding job so far. Here's hoping it continues a while longer! Thanks for your comment :)
